FAQ
What is hallmarking and why is it important?
Hallmarking is a legal requirement in the UK for silver work weighing over 7.78g. It ensures the quality and authenticity of the silver in jewellery.
At Jenna Barnes Jewellery we are dedicated to quality and always hallmark work weighing over the 7.78g.
What is your returns policy?
Do you provide guidance on bangle or ring sizes?
How long will it take for delivery?
What kind of metals and materials do you work with?
I work in recycled fine silver .999 and recycled sterling silver .925. The environment is important to me and I use materials responsibly.
If the work is over the 7.78g then it is sent for hallmarking.
Sometimes I use bonded gold to bring some added colour to my work. The bonded or rolled gold that I use is 14K and 1/20 of the weight of the metal which is thicker and more durable than gold plated.
I like to use precious and semi precious stones in my work which are sourced responsibly from uk suppliers.
How do I care for my jewellery?
Silver naturally tarnishes over time but will come up nicely when polished with a soft cloth. I recomend using Goddards Long Term Silver Polish which will bring the surface of the silver back up to a bright shine and protect from future tarnishing. If the polish gets stuck in the textures of the design just run it under the tap and dry with the soft cloth.
Wearing your jewellery also helps to prevent tanishing from occuring.
